Sightseeing in London
London – the city that has it allWhether it’s riding on the London Eye, watching the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace, or taking a stroll around the Tate – whatever you’re into, London has it – on a grand scale.
England’s vibrant capital is packed with sightseeing opportunities on every corner and is regarded by many as one of the world’s must-see cities.
And, when you’re staying in a Concept Apartment, it’s all right on your doorstep…
Take your time – there’s a lot to see
From wherever you’re staying, you’re guaranteed to be close to a quick and easy route into the city and to every one of London’s incredible attractions. Best of all, when you feel the need to put your feet up you can simply catch a cab or tube back to your apartment for some me-time. It’s the perfect way to see England’s amazing capital, with the peace of your own space to chill out and relax – just minutes from the hustle and bustle of everything the city has to offer.
Fine art to controversial installations
For art-lovers, there’s everything from classic to contemporary, modern to conceptional art in a selection of stunning and highly acclaimed galleries. A great start is to take a stroll around the National Gallery. Perfectly situated on impressive Trafalgar Square and home to over 2,000 masterpieces, here you’ll see paintings that date right back to the mid 13th century.
From here, if you’re after something a little more eclectic, a short cruise down the Thames will take you to the internationally renowned Tate Modern. This is, without doubt, one of the world’s finest places to see inspirational and thought-provoking exhibitions and installations. The gallery also houses some incredible classical pieces, including major works by Matisse and Picasso.

Walking with dinosaurs
Just a short hop from our Paddington and Notting Hill properties is the thrilling, state-of-the-art Science Museum and its neighbour, the Natural History Museum.
No visit to London would be complete without a trip to see the permanent dinosaur exhibition and staggering collection of the world’s biggest, tallest and rarest animals – some cute and cuddly-looking, many, shall we say, less so!
For a museum of a different nature, take the tube or traditional London Bus across to the other side of town, where you’ll find the historical splendour of the British Museum.
Situated right next to our Russell Square properties, the British Museum is elegantly filled with over seven million pieces of art and artefacts that tell the incredible story of the human journey, right from the beginning to the present day.
Most of London’s galleries and museums are free to enter, so when you’re based in the city you don’t even need to make a day of your visit. Just do like the locals and pop in during your lunch break for a touch of midday culture.
Anyone for a picnic? When the sun shines in London, where better to head to than some of the beautiful Royal Parks? One of London’s most famous is Hyde Park, situated centrally in the city and close to many tube stops. It’s also just a short walk from many Concept Apartments – particularly those in Bayswater, Notting Hill and Paddington.
Here you’ll find 350 acres of relaxation, fun and history in a park so spacious and beautiful you’ll soon forget you’re in central London.
Take a boat out on the lake, go for a horse ride, or enjoy a picnic with friends. Cross the Serpentine Lake and you’ll find yourself in the splendour of Kensington Gardens.
This striking park gives a true sense of royalty with its avenues of magnificent trees, ornamental flower beds and of course, the stunning Kensington Palace.
You’re never far from a park in London, so even when you’re knee-deep in shopping on Oxford Street, you’re just a short walk (or one tube stop – if you’re feeling lazy) from Regent’s Park. Joined with the beautiful Primrose Hill, Regent’s Park is home to London Zoo, the world-famous rose gardens, and the largest outdoor sports area in central London.

Float your way through London’s history
For locals and tourists alike, however much you time you spend in London, it’s hard to tire of the quintessential sights of this fascinating capital.
If you’re in town in the summer, the State Rooms of Buckingham Palace are open to visitors and give a real flavour of royal life.
You may even catch the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony at the front of the Palace – and while you’re there, check to see if the flag is flying above. If it is, the Queen is in residence.
Just a short walk from Buckingham Palace you’ll find the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, which is an ideal location to start a trip on the River Thames.
Many of London’s most famous landmarks can be most easily seen and reached boat, and this is a great way to get a feel for the geography of London.
Sights you’ll see include the London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. Travel a little further and you’ll pass through London Bridge and Tower Bridge, and past the spectacular Tower of London and the most gruesome attraction in London – The London Dungeon.
Spend some time in London and you’ll never be short of something to do. The City’s endless opportunities for sightseeing, entertainment, culture and relaxation make it a Capital that’s heard to beat on any front – even harder when you have the luxury base of a Concept Apartment at your disposal.
As Samuel Johnson points out in his famous quote, “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."
It seems this is still the case, well over 250 years later.
